For this story, I don’t know if there was another character I would have rather followed. Her personality was perfect for this story and so was her actions. I honestly don’t know how she did everything she did because I don’t know if I would have been able to. Kira is the main character that is followed through the whole story. But overall, this was a very solid book and enjoyable. Some parts of it, I do like but the others are giving me a mixed feeling. As I liked mostly everything about this book, it’s the ending that I am still contemplating. I always forgot how much I really enjoy space novels until I read them. The science fiction aspect was definitely very heavy but I really enjoyed it. To Sleep in a Sea of Stars is not a light book, my friend, so don’t go into it thinking it’s going to be an easy read. While I did feel a little lost at some points (and most of that was because I had lost focus for a moment), everything ended up coming together and making sense. This world was so in depth that each detail and scene was important to tell the whole story. At some points, I wondered if this book could have been shorter at all, or if any details could have been left out. This made the beginning of the book, and everything after seem important. I can see how this could have been lost or not utilized as the story continued, but it never did. While there were many other events that happened, this was the main cause of it and stayed relevant. This is honestly the whole focus of the book and it worked. I really liked the idea of how the “dust” was actually a lost alien suit that became a part of Kira. This was good because in a book this size, it was really nice to keep surprised and unexpecting of what was going to happen next. However, I wasn’t expecting any of the events that occurred. Right away I knew there was going to be something tragic that happened to Kira to spark the chain of events. There was so much that happened in this book, I really don’t even know where to begin and how much to talk about without spoiling. This review is going to be a little tough. Now, Kira might be humanity’s greatest and final hope Feedback While Kira faces her own horrors, Earth and its colonies stand upon the brink of annihilation. First contact isn’t at all what she imagined, and events push her to the very limits of what it means to be human. At first she’s delighted, but elation turns to terror when the ancient dust around her begins to move.Īs war erupts among the stars, Kira is launched into a galaxy-spanning odyssey of discovery and transformation. 4 out of 5 stars Summary Taken from Goodreadsĭuring a routine survey mission on an uncolonized planet, Kira finds an alien relic.
